Job Description Summary:
As a Food Service and Custodial Specialist, this multifaceted role will maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our faculty, staff, and students including food service areas. You will be responsible for both food service and custodial duties to ensure the College's public areas is impeccably clean and orderly.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

Food Service Responsibilities:

Food Preparation: Prepare a variety of food items, following established recipes and portion sizes, to provide quality meals for customers.
Customer Service: Greet and assist customers with a friendly and professional demeanor, take orders, answer questions about menu items, and provide recommendations.
Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash transactions, operate cash registers, and process payments, ensuring that the cash drawer balances at the end of each shift.
Food Safety: Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices.
Cleaning: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining area, including wiping down tables, chairs, countertops, and assisting in dishwashing as needed.

Custodial Responsibilities:

Cleaning: Perform cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting, to maintain the cleanliness of all areas within the facility.
Trash Removal: Empty and dispose of trash and recyclables from various bins throughout the facility, following proper disposal methods.
Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize restroom facilities regularly, including restocking supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
Floor Care: Maintain and care for different types of flooring, including carpet, tile, and hardwood, by cleaning and performing routine maintenance as needed.
Surface Disinfection: Disinfect commonly touched surfaces, doorknobs, handrails, and light switches to promote a hygienic environment.
Inventory Management: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and materials to ensure they are readily available for use.

Required Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.


Required Work Experience
  • One year of work experience.


Preferred Work Experience
  • Previous experience in both food service and custodial or janitorial roles is a plus.


Knowledge
  • Knowledge of food safety, cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely.


Skills
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Dependability and the ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a variety of settings, indoors and outdoors.
  • Subject to standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
  • May work with hazardous chemicals.


Safety
  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
