General Statement

The Assistant Director of Testing Services provides leadership, oversight, and operational management for all college testing services across multiple campuses. This role is responsible for program administration, operational coordination, staff supervision, test security, and compliance for placement testing, high school equivalency testing, makeup exams, and other approved testing programs. The Assistant Director leads planning and implementation efforts for new testing initiatives, including preparation to become an authorized third-party testing site, and ensures a high degree of integrity, compliance, and customer service in all testing operations. The Assistant Director also provides direct proctoring support as needed to ensure continuity of services.

Supervises the Testing Assessment Specialist, part-time proctors, and administrative support staff engaged in testing services across all locations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for all testing services across multiple campus locations.
  • Lead planning, readiness, and implementation activities related to the expansion of testing services, including preparation to become an authorized third-party testing site.
  • Serve as the primary institutional point of contact for testing vendors and state agencies.
  • Ensure full compliance with all testing regulations, contracts, vendor requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Assume all duties associated with the role of GED Chief Examiner as required by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Oversee test security protocols for both paper-based and computerized testing.
  • Oversee scheduling and coordination of testing operations across multiple campus locations.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and support testing staff in accordance with QCC guidelines.
  • Oversee English as a Second Language Assessments and Placement Exams
  • Provide direct proctoring support as needed.
  • Monitor and evaluate the preparation, administration, and delivery of all tests.
  • Write, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures for all testing activities.
  • Oversee testing-related budgets, fees, and cost structures.
  • Establish and maintain systems to track testing volume and site activity.
  • Collaborate with faculty, academic deans, advising staff, and Institutional Research.
  • Provide regular operational and testing activity reports.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ensure high-quality customer service for all test takers and campus partners.
  • Oversee the accuracy of testing materials and communications.
  • Remain current in best practices related to testing services.
  • Support a student-centered, inclusive, and collaborative testing environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Approved Massachusetts GED Chief Examiner status or ability to obtain.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in standardized test administration or supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, compliance-driven operations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and supervisory skills.
  • Proficiency with computer-based testing platforms.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
  • Previous supervisory experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a community college or higher education setting.
  • Experience planning or implementing new programs or services.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Experience supporting testing accommodations and accessibility services
