Job Description

Great Basin College (GBC) is recruiting part-time faculty to teach courses in construction technology. Part-time faculty are an essential part of GBC operations, and they continually make a positive impact on our students lives. Under the supervision of the Department Chair, part-time faculty teach course content; assess student learning; stay current in their teaching field; actively refer students to supportive college resources; complete professional development; use current technology; and maintain appropriate standards of ethics and professional conduct.

The Construction Technology program equips students with foundational skills for careers in the construction industry, including introductory carpentry, blueprint reading, safe and proper use of tools, and basic framing techniques for floors, walls, ceiling joists, and roofs. The program will meet every Friday starting the second week of January and ending the Friday before Memorial Day. The program is 10 credits long, and completing students will receive a skills certificate.

Part-time faculty in the Construction Technology program teach a variety of courses, based on staffing and program needs.

Courses include:
  • CONS 101: Introduction to Construction Technology
  • CONS 120: Construction Plans and Specifications
  • CONS 108: Construction Material and Methods


This position is located in Ely, NV. The schedule will include full day hands-on lab instruction every Friday from January-May.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent and a level of credentialing/ mastery commensurate with the position description as determined by the hiring supervisor and/or committee.
  • General Contractor License preferred.


Salary and Benefits:

Salary is the standard part-time instructor amount based on amount of credits taught.

This is a non-benefits eligible position.
