Under the direction of the faculty and staff assigned to the Child Development Center, performs tasks related to the operation of child development program and assists faculty and staff in daily programs and routines at the Child Development Center.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Instructional Assistant/Child Services class is distinguished from the Instructional Aide class or the Instructional Lab Technician/Child Development class in that positions assigned to this class provide instructional assistance to children, and provide assistance to the Instructional Lab Technician/Child Development, staff, faculty and students with the implementation of the children's daily programs and routines. Instructional Lab Technicians assigned to the Child Development Center are required to hold a California Instructional Children's Center Permit.

Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Assistant / Child Development in the Child Development Center, located at San Diego Mesa College. Hours are Monday - Friday, 25 - 32 hours per week, August through June. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Pay Information:
**Position for 0.625 FTE
Range 16-($2,458.87-$3,390.49) per month based on 0.625 FTE from the current 1.0 FTE Classified salary schedule. New employees will begin on Step D ($2,458.87). Step placement is non-negotiable. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA.
This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.
