The salary range represents the earning potential for this position, through training, evaluations and years spent working in this position with Spokane Colleges.


About Us

Spokane Colleges is comprised of two accredited colleges, Spokane Community College (SCC) and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) serving Spokane, Stevens, Whitman, Ferry, and Pend Oreille Counties, as well as portions of Lincoln County.

Both colleges are accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and governed by the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges.

About the Sports Information Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Athletics Director, the Sports Information Manager is responsible for the promotion and marketing of athletic events for Spokane Colleges as well as coordinating and marketing activities to students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote and market all department programs, and athletic events on campuses. *
  • Work closely with the Spokane Colleges Foundation on matters pertaining to fundraising including web-based fundraising. *
  • Maintain and update all Athletic Department and web pages and social media sites including taking photos of all athletic teams and individual student athletes for school website. *
  • Provide sports information for all athletic teams and the department as requested. This person is the conduit between media outlets and Spokane Colleges programs through compiled (?) statistics, website updates, newsletters, distribution lists and promotion of our athletic events.
  • Coordinate home athletic events to include setup of live streaming for home games. *
  • Responsible for results reporting, compiling statistics, creating press releases, and communicating athlete and team information internally and externally, to the NWACC, to the media, and to other parties. Must possess excellent writing skills with the ability to proofread material, making corrections for sentence structure, spelling, grammar and punctuation. *
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
  • Comply with district policies, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements. *
  • Support and advance Spokane Colleges' strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned. *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or another closely related field.
    Or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position.
  • Experience in fundraising, game management, sports information, concessions, promotion or marketing.
  • Knowledge of fundraising, promoting and marketing athletic activities/events.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and various social media software.
  • Knowledge of inventory and sales/cash management.
  • Must possess excellent writing skills with the ability to proofread material, making corrections for sentence structure, spelling, grammar and punctuation.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master's degree in business administration, marketing, or another closely related field.
    • One year experience in athletic fundraising, game management, sports information, concessions, promotion or marketing.
    • Experience in a higher education environment.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed in a semi-open office environment with frequent interruptions and background noise and in gyms and outdoors in uncontrolled elements.
  • Work directly with students/clients.
  • Move up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Team lifts are encouraged and to be used at the employee's discretion.
  • Occasional to frequent change in position from sedentary, standing, stooping and walking.
  • Frequent oral and auditory communication with others.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • 12-month position
  • This position is overtime eligible.
  • Position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • May require local or regional travel.
  • Criminal background check is required.


Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the district to sponsor an H1-B visa. In addition, the Spokane Colleges maintain a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. Must be able to successfully work in and promote a multicultural work and education environment.

Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position. Benefits Information

This is a contracted, exempt management position. Medical, dental life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under the Public Employees Benefits Board; TIAA retirement plan or WA State Dept. of Retirement Systems Pension Plan. Vacation leave accrues at the rate of 14.67 hours per month (22 days per year) and sick leave accrues at the rate of 8 hours per month, effective upon employment. (For positions that are less than full time, leave accruals will be prorated to the percentage of the position.
