Assistant Athletic Director/Head Baseball Coach
POSITION: Full-Time Assistant Athletic Director/Head Baseball Coach (Special Programs Coordinator): Athletics Department; Haverhill Campus; MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; 37.5 hours per week with a customary work schedule of 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (Monday -Friday). During the various athletic team seasons, the hours may be adjusted and compensated, in alignment with contractual guidelines, during certain periods with prior notification per the MCCC contract, as necessary. Pay Grade 4.
SUMMARY: The Assistant Athletic Director & Head Baseball Coach supports the overall mission of the college's athletics and recreation department by overseeing daily operations of the campus fitness center while leading all aspects of the baseball program. This dual-role position requires strong organizational leadership, facility management expertise, and the ability to recruit, develop, and mentor student-athletes. This is a professional position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of all governing bodies, Region XXI, and Northern Essex Community College.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties for this position include:
Athletic Administration
- Assist the director in the development and establishment of goals to insure athletic and fitness/recreation programs are consistent with institutional and department priorities
- Assist with Supervision and schedule of fitness center staff, including student workers, trainers, and part-time personnel.
- Assist the Athletic Director with departmental planning, compliance, and game-day operations.
- Support scheduling, facility coordination, and event management for varsity and recreational programs.
- Contribute to student-athlete development initiatives, academic monitoring, and community engagement.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of athletics staff.
Head Baseball Coach
- Lead all aspects of the college baseball program, including recruiting, training and competitive strategy
- Plan and conduct practices, strength programs and skill development sessions
- Oversee game preparation, scouting, and in season adjustments
- Ensure compliance with institutional, conference and national governing body regulations
- Foster a positive culture emphasizing academic success and sportsmanship

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in sports administration, physical education, sports fitness or a related field with three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include college registration, academic advisement, career development, career experience, training, curriculum development, audio/visual or graphic production, grant administration, budget development, program/project management, event planning, administrative work in an academic environment, or personal computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- At least 2 years demonstrated experience in college coaching, administration and facility management.
- Previous experience in the recruitment of student-athletes
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain upon hire
- Ability to work weekends and evenings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree
- Experience in a higher education environment
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Additional Information:
GRADE AND SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $65,370.00 to $70,427.00 (MCCC Pay Grade 4 with a Bachelor's degree) annually with complete fringe benefit package. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
