Overview
The position is responsible for overseeing the management of Blackhawk Technical College's athletic teams, club sports, student wellness programs, and transportation services. Key duties include hiring, training, and supervising coaches, developing K-12 relationships, recruiting student-athletes, and building community partnerships to grow awareness. Position collaborates with other college departments to enhance athletics, club sports, and student wellness initiatives. The role also involves partnering with the BTC Foundation to coordinate fundraising efforts to support athletics. Additionally, the role oversees the College's shuttle services, coordinating daily staffing and operations to ensure timely student pick-up and drop-off. This position also ensures full compliance with DOT regulations and maintains accurate log records.

Responsibilities
Manage and Coordinate the Athletics Department.
- Provide leadership and oversight for all intercollegiate athletic teams, club sports, and student wellness initiatives.
- Maintain all NJCAA rules, regulations, compliance, and standards.
- Coordinate athletic eligibility process in compliance with institutional, conference, and NJCAA regulations. Maintain all student records.
- Coordinate league affiliations, competition schedules, and all other logistics associated with competitions (e.g., transportation, event officials, gym/event space, after hour requests, etc.)
- Maintain athletics budget including budget preparations for the annual College budget process and SAFAC submission request through Student Government Association.
- In collaboration with Academics and Facilities, coordinate gym and practice facilities, and secure external facility/space arrangements, as necessary.
- Oversight and coordination of the College Fitness Center and track operations. Including equipment maintenance and replacement, staffing, rules and regulations.
- Coordinate supply, uniform, and equipment requests for Athletics.
- Responsible for recruitment, hire, train, and supervise athletic team and club sport coaches.
- Develop, maintain, and implement Athletics Handbook for students and coaches reflective of college policies.
- Actively participate in conference or NJCAA committees to continue to advance the athletic program and well-being of student athletes.
- Coordinate student wellness and fitness opportunities including intramural offerings and the fitness center.
- Maintain open communication between student athletes and coaches; Collect and analyze data to improve student athlete experience and success.
Fundraising and Community Outreach/High School Partners:
- Coordinate with the BTC Foundation and Recruitment offices to coordinate fundraising, scholarships, and efforts to promote student athlete opportunities at the College.
- Coordinate recruitment of student athletes in partnership with student recruitment and K-12 partners.
- Work with departments such as Advising, Recruitment, and CARE Team to support student success and ensure access to resources.
- Establish and nurture community collaborations, business partnerships, and events that enhance the College's brand and reputation.
- Collaborate with BTC Foundation to develop and maintain a structured fundraising program to support Blackhawk Athletic Program.
Shuttle Operations:
- Coordinate the shuttle bus schedule according to student demands/needs.
- Schedule the shuttle bus drivers and ensure an appropriate number of drivers are available to meet route needs.
- Provide oversight of DOT regulations to ensure drivers are in compliance with applicable laws and licenses.
- Partner with the BTC Designated Employer Representative to facilitate DOT-required drug and alcohol screenings of Shuttle Bus Drivers.
- Maintain vehicle, passenger, and trip logs in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Responsible for the safety and maintenance of shuttle buses.
Collaborate with other areas of the college to advance athletics, club sports, and student success and wellness.
- Develop and implement Title IX awareness and prevention compliance trainings in coordination with the Title IX coordinator.
- Lead student-athlete academic success efforts in coordination with Academic Affairs.
- Develop and advance programs, policies, and procedures that promote and support the academic success and welfare of student athletes.
- Advance awareness of student housing options and manage onboarding processes for student-athletes to ensure a positive residential experience.
- Work in partnership with the Student Experience & Compliance Manager to shape residential life experiences and reinforce expectations outlined in the student-athlete code of conduct.
- Collaborate with Marketing on athletic communication, social media, and branding to ensure consistency with the College Brand.
- Serve as representative for the Athletic Department on and off campus through promotion of the College's mission.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
- Working knowledge of Title IX as it relates to sports and extracurricular activities.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations as it relates to shuttle bus operations.
- Ability to build engaging and collaborative relationships with various stake holders (i.e., coaches, student-athletes, faculty, staff, and community partners).
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Recreation/Sports Management, Exercise Science, or related field.
- 4 years of athletic administrative experience, preferably including sport oversight and/or coaching experience.
