Position Title:

Community Service Officer

Job Summary:

Under the administrative supervision of the Lead Community Service Officer, the Community Service Officer assists College personnel and visitors, enforces College rules and regulations, works in tandem with the Police Officers when called upon, provides service and protection to the people and property of the College of Lake County, and is proactive in providing a safe environment for employees, students, and the public.

Job Description:

Patrols parking lots, athletic fields, and buildings/grounds to prevent theft and vandalism.
Issues parking tickets.
Assists with traffic management.
Responds to emergency situations.
Advises Police Officers of unusual problems or violations of federal or state law.
Enforces College rules and regulations.
Monitors and reports unauthorized access to buildings and grounds.
Performs radio and telephone dispatch duties as necessary.
Monitors fire detection equipment and responds accordingly to any emergency.
Reports and/or corrects fire and safety hazards and emergency problems.
Turns off lights and locks/unlocks buildings and rooms as required.
Provides escorts to staff, faculty, and students upon request.
Contacts CLC Police Officers and/or Grayslake Police Department when a serious situation arises.
Testifies in court as requested.
Completes personal injury reports, general incident reports, or other reports as directed by department procedures.
Provides motorist assistance within established guidelines.
Monitors traffic and road conditions and reports problems and concerns.
Writes reports concerning problems found on tour watches.
Performs checks on call boxes, camera system, and building conditions.
Responds to emergency callouts.
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

High school diploma, or equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
Work experience with public contact.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to patrol on foot all facilities.
Ability to carry or drag 150 pounds.

Desired Qualifications

Associate's degree or higher.
Full LEADS Certified.
Civilian or military law enforcement/security experience.

Work Schedule

11:00pm - 7:00am Saturday - Wednesday

Pay

$20.66/hour + $1.50/hour shift differential
