Job Description Summary:
Oversees and coordinates daily advising operations and staff to ensure consistent and effective delivery of academic advising services across assigned campuses. Supports student success, retention, and completion by ensuring advising practices are consistent, and data-informed.
Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
- Manages day-to-day advising operations, ensuring adherence to established protocols, schedules, and service standards.
- Supervises and evaluates staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management consistent with ACC policies.
- Monitors advising caseloads, student progress, and success metrics; develops interventions and strategies to enhance retention and completion.
- Collaborates with Academic Deans, Student Affairs, and Institutional Research to analyze advising data, identify trends, and improve service delivery.
- Leads implementation and ongoing assessment of proactive advising models, ensuring equitable student experiences.
- Oversees student appeals, academic progress standards, and compliance-related advising processes (e.g., TSI, course load approvals).
- Ensures staff maintain current knowledge of programs, pathways, and institutional policies impacting advising.
- Manages budgets, staffing, and resource allocation for assigned area.
- Represents Advising Services in collegewide initiatives and committees.
- Performs academic advising as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge
- Academic advising models and student success strategies.
- Principles of leadership, management, and team development.
- FERPA, ADA, Title IX, and compliance regulations.
- Degree audit systems and academic planning tools.
- Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements.
- Project management and operational coordination.
- Data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement processes.

Technology Skills

Required Work Experience
- Three (3) years of related work experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Completion of the ACC Supervisor Certificate Series Program may satisfy the supervisory experience requirement.
Preferred Work Experience
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a college advising or student affairs setting.
- Experience leading functional areas or projects in higher education.
- Familiarity with advising technology, student information systems, and CRM platforms.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field.
- Four years of related experience OR Associates Degree and two years of related experience can be substituted for the required education.
Preferred Education
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- Requires occasional evening or weekend work.
- May require travel between ACC campuses.
- This position falls under ACC's In-Person Preferred/ Remote framework, with limited remote flexibility as approved by the supervisor.
Salary Range (PG 124)
$69,762 - $87,202
