Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Healthcare Program Manager within the Biological and Health Sciences Division and in collaboration with the Department Chair and faculty in the Health and Wellness Promotion (HWP), Kinesiology (KIN), and Massage Therapy (MAS) academic departments, this position provides logistical coordination and support for the HWP/KIN/MAS academic departments across multiple campuses and for the wellness services offered through the college's Center for Health & Wellness Promotion (CHWP) (including Resident Program, Human Performance Lab, and Student Massage Public Clinics).

Job Description:

Project and Process Management - 50%

  • Organizes, prepares, and maintains all necessary equipment and supplies for HWP/MAS/KIN classes, courses, and labs across multiple campuses.
  • Implements proper infection prevention and control procedures for HWP/MAS/KIN courses and labs across multiple campuses; maintains current knowledge of infection prevention, control, and risk management guidelines.
  • Assists HWP/KIN/MAS faculty with day-to-day setup and takedown of courses/labs.
  • Schedules and coordinates room usage for HWP/KIN/MAS meetings, outreach events, and courses as needed.
  • Maintains and updates computerized inventory of wellness lab equipment and assists in planning for replacement, maintenance, and/or upgrades on a regular basis; arranges for repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the operation of equipment used in wellness labs; when appropriate and based on department needs, operates specific wellness equipment during CHWP services.
  • Maintains and monitors security and safety of wellness stockrooms, closets, and labs across multiple campuses.
  • Maintains contact with CLC departments (e.g., Facilities, IT, Southlake Campus Administration) and off-campus suppliers/vendors to fulfill departmental needs.
  • Assists with computerized tracking of revenue for the Student Public Clinic(s), and revenue and payroll for the CHWP.
  • Assists in overseeing wellness operations and services at the Center for Health and Wellness Promotion (CHWP).
  • Coordinates logistics for wellness services offered through the CHWP on multiple campuses.
  • Assists in maintaining systems for data collection, analysis, and continuous improvement related to CHWP services.
  • Tracks the effectiveness of CHWP services to meet all expressed outcomes.
  • Assists with tracking revenue, budget, and payroll for the CHWP.
  • Maintains semester schedule for CHWP services across multiple campuses.
  • Assists with creating marketing materials for the CHWP, Student Public Clinic, and HWP/KIN/MAS academic departments.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials related to services rendered through HWP/KIN/MAS courses and the CHWP.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Student/Customer Service - 40%

  • Provides on-campus support and guidance for walk-in students and clients at the Southlake Campus.
  • Provides day-of, in-person logistical support for clients during Student Public Clinic(s) and during on- and off-campus outreach events.
  • Actively participates in on- and off-campus marketing and recruitment efforts to increase student and community awareness of HWP/KIN/MAS academic departments and CHWP services.
  • Consults with HWP/KIN/MAS Department Chair and full-time faculty regarding wellness services as they relate to improving recruitment and retention of CLC students.
  • Promotes wellness services internally and externally to meet academic learning outcomes for the CHWP and Student Public Clinic(s).
  • Provides support to the HWP/KIN/MAS Department Chair and full- and part-time faculty by scheduling appointments and collecting payments for wellness services and related activities serving students, faculty, staff, and community members at the CHWP and Student Public Clinic(s).
  • Fosters and promotes camaraderie and inclusivity in programming and services.
  • Assists in researching and implementing alternative delivery formats for CHWP wellness services.
  • Models professional conduct and supports safety standards for students and clients.

Personnel Management - 5%

  • Works collaboratively with the Dean of Biological Health Sciences, Healthcare Program Manager, Department Chair of HWP/MAS/KIN, faculty, students, and key stakeholders at the college.
  • Recruits and oversees CHWP independent contractors.
  • Ensures student, faculty, staff, and community member conduct conforms to CHWP policies.

Other - 5%

  • Serves on departmental, divisional, and/or college-wide committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Healthcare Program Manager and/or designated by the HWP/KIN/MAS Department Chair.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with four (4) years of experience in exercise/fitness, health/wellness, or massage therapy settings; or
  • Associate's degree in preventative health, wellness, kinesiology, or a relevant wellness field from an accredited institution with two (2) years of experience in exercise/fitness, health/wellness, or massage therapy settings.
  • Able to operate a variety of fitness and wellness laboratory equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Physically able to sit, walk, and stand for long periods of time; bend; lift and carry 25-50 lbs.; and occasionally squat, climb, kneel, or twist.
  • Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong strategic, creative, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment.
  • Effectiveness in setting priorities and discovering new ways to create efficiencies with CHWP logistical operations.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with individuals and teams from diverse backgrounds and professional responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or other non-profit environment.
  • Current national certification from one or more of the following: ACSM, NSCA, NBHWC, or an equivalent fitness or wellness national certification from a nationally accrediting body; or State Licensure in an allied health field (e.g., massage therapy, physical therapy assistant).
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with wellness, fitness, and health assessment/testing technology and equipment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (weekends and evenings as department necessitates). Each Fall and Spring semester, work on Saturdays is required and may vary in accordance with the needs of the College. Work at two campuses (Southlake and Grayslake) is required, with occasional participation at events at Lakeshore campus
