Job Description Summary:
To establish and maintain a teaching, learning, and working environment where faculty, staff, and students are appropriately served within available resources on a college-wide basis; to provide instructional leadership; to ensure the effective administration of assigned disciplines; and to promote instructional goals and objectives conducive to student success. To provide oversight and support of assigned programs in the Computer Science and Information Technology dean area.
Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Define and execute a strategic vision that positions the College as a leader in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing.
- Cultivate an innovation-first culture where faculty are empowered to pioneer forward-thinking instructional strategies and adaptive teaching models, viewing continuous iteration as a vital pathway to academic excellence and student success.
- Serve as the primary advocate for the college, ensuring that CSIT programs are central to the institution's broader digital transformation goals.
Academic Program Oversight
- Ensure all CSIT curricula remain agile and industry-aligned, while enhancing work-based learning opportunities, including internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, and project-based learning.
- Oversee the development of specialized tracks and micro-credentials in high-demand areas like Data Science, Cloud Architecture, and Full-Stack Development.
- Champion college-wide initiatives to integrate AI and cloud technologies into all academic disciplines, fostering a culture of digital literacy.
Faculty and Staff Management
- Recruit, empower, and lead a premier faculty team by integrating innovative educators and seasoned industry experts, fostering a collaborative environment that thrives in preparing our students to enter a competitive global market.
- Lead a technical support team to pioneer innovative divisional systems and programs while ensuring seamless alignment with the college's security protocols and broader IT infrastructure.
- Foster a collaborative environment that accelerates faculty mastery of emerging technologies through continuous professional development.
Student Success and Enrollment
- Execute strategic course scheduling that optimizes faculty resources and facility capacity to maximize student access, enrollment, and completion.
- Lead divisional strategies for student persistence and completion by aligning advising and academic supports with institutional goals for retention and graduation.
- Partner with college services to secure high-value internships and "day-one-ready" career placements with top-tier tech firms and government entities.
- Enhance student retention by advancing co-curricular programming, including hackathons, competitive teams, and student-led technical projects.
Financial and Resource Management
- Optimizes the strategic allocation of divisional budgets to prioritize high-demand technical programs, ensuring fiscal sustainability while responding to rapid shifts in the regional tech workforce.
- Leads a comprehensive resource strategy that optimizes HB8 performance-tier funding and strategic partnerships to sustain state-of-the-art AI and Cloud labs within established compliance frameworks.
- Optimize the use of physical and digital assets, including specialized labs and cloud-based options, to ensure maximum utilization and operational efficiency across multiple campuses.
- Lead the pursuit of alternative revenue streams, such as Workforce Development grants and corporate sponsorships, to fund innovative student-support initiatives and faculty professional development.
Community and Industry Engagement
- Orchestrates regular Industry Advisory Board meetings with industry tech leadership to guarantee curriculum quality and workforce relevance.
- Secures regional tech partnerships that provide faculty externships and direct career pipelines for students.
- Advocates for the division's programs at local, state, and national forums to drive community impact and enrollment.
Knowledge
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Demonstrated expertise in project planning, development, and implementation.

- Ability to interpret complex data dashboards and summary reports to monitor enrollment trends and HB8 performance tiers.
- Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Required Work Experience
- Five years of related work experience, including supervision/management.
Preferred Work Experience
- Supervision/management in a higher education academic environment.
Required Education
- Master's degree. As required for faculty. Must meet SACSCOC faculty qualifications for the subject(s) areas taught. See the current year Faculty Qualifications Table located at www.austincc.edu/facstaff/faculty-credentials. Experience cannot be substituted for the required, applicable educational level.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
