Job Description
Great Basin College is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, and student-focused Testing and Tutoring Coordinator to join our Learning Commons team. We're looking for someone who thrives on both structure and innovation and who can manage high-stakes testing, while also leading inclusive and evidence-based tutoring strategies.
This position will oversee the coordination of tutoring and proctoring services at GBC, providing essential training and leadership for tutors and proctors while ensuring consistent, high-quality support for every learner. The position will also play a key role in upholding academic integrity and accessibility in exams such as Pearson VUE, HiSET, Praxis, Accuplacer and institutional testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Testing Coordination
- Administer professional and academic testing including Pearson VUE, HiSET, Praxis, Accuplacer, and GBC exams.
- Train and support proctors to ensure consistency, compliance, and professionalism.
- Create and maintain standardized procedures that uphold testing integrity, security, and vendor requirements.
- Serve as a liaison with national testing agencies and collaborate with the Director of the Learning Commons to prepare for audits and reviews.
- Troubleshoot test delivery issues and maintain accurate scheduling and reporting systems.
Tutoring Coordination
- Oversee tutoring operations at GBC, with a focus on access, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, train, and support peer and professional tutors, providing regular development opportunities aligned with best practices.
- Partner with faculty to ensure tutoring aligns with curricular goals and supports student learning outcomes.
- Assess service effectiveness using data and feedback to enhance the tutoring program and address evolving student needs.
General Duties
- Collaborate with the Director of the Learning Commons and institutional partners to align services with college-wide goals around retention and student support.
- Maintain accurate data tracking systems for tutoring and testing usage, assessments, and outcomes.
- Contribute to Learning Commons initiatives, outreach, and programming that foster academic confidence, equity, and belonging.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience administering and proctoring high-stakes exams (Pearson VUE, HiSET, Praxis).
- At least two years of experience coordinating tutoring or academic support services.
- Proven experience training staff and implementing standardized procedures.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to access, inclusion, and student-centered service in a rural college setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a Learning Commons, academic success center, or similar student support environment.
- Familiarity with testing platforms, student information systems, and tutoring management tools. Knowledge of best practices in exam security, student support services, and academic skill-building.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.

Compensation Grade
Administrative Faculty - B
This is a 12 month "A" contract, 12 month contracts are used for year round programs.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $44,756 - $56,250. Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.

Newly hired faculty must assure that their official transcripts are sent by the degree granting institution(s) to Great Basin College Human Resources Office within 30 days from the effective date of employment. Regionally accredited institutions must have awarded academic degrees.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
