Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada is seeking applicants for a Network Support Specialist. This individual is responsible for installing, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, and upgrading network infrastructure devices (Switching, routing, optical cable and hardware, microwave radios, video hardware, wireless networking). In addition, the Network Support Specialist is responsible for installing and troubleshooting cable
within the college's telephony and data cable distribution system. This includes placement of equipment outlets, pulling and terminating cables, and installing cable termination panels and frames.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of related work experience OR
Associate's degree plus 4 years of related work experience OR 6 years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certification: CCNA, Network +, Hardware +, Software +
2. Experience with Cisco, Brocade, or Extreme routers.

3. Knowledge in routing protocols including OSPF.
4. Experience in Wide Area Network equipment installation, operation, troubleshooting/problem resolution, testing, monitoring, and maintenance.
5. Effective skills in Local Area Network equipment installation, operation,
troubleshooting/problem resolution, testing, monitoring, and maintenance. Primarily systems based on Aruba/HP Procurve, Extreme, VoIP, Brocade, and Cisco operating systems.
6. Experience with data/video/voice communications, network design, and implementation procedures.
7. Experience in system performance monitoring and reporting.
8. Experience with installing and testing structured cabling.

Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary: $49,076- $61,345 Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.
