Applications are currently being accepted for a Campus Digital Communications Specialist in the Office of Communications located at Mesa College. Hours are Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs, to include occasional evenings and weekends.

San Diego Mesa College is seeking a Campus Digital Communications Specialist (DCS) to plan, design, develop, and implement a digital and social communications strategy to strengthen and maintain the college's public image, brand identity and to engage and build stronger relationships with key audiences.

Responsibilities include: Work as a part of college and District creative teams to design and implement cross-platform design and branding; strategize, develop and assess social media and online ad campaigns; produce engaging online/digital content (including, but not limited to web pages, news posts, social media messages/content, digital advertising, photos and videos, etc.); manage official social media pages; assess, analyze and market the college online and media sites; create and maintain social and electronic media guidelines, provide training, and coordinate social and digital communication efforts across the college.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

  • Training and experience equivalent to two years of increasingly responsible work experience related to digital and social media. (Experience in higher education a plus)
  • Strong communications experience producing engaging online/digital content
  • Experience in producing graphics (including infographics), taking and editing photography and video, and using these elements in digital and social media communications.
  • Ability to successfully use and place social and digital media to strategically build an organizations engagement with key audiences and to achieve an organizations communications objectives.
  • Understanding of and experience using digital and social media analytics.
  • Experience working in a busy communications office; ability to work as part of a team. (Experience as part of a college or university communications team a plus.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, efficiently and professionally in writing.


Licenses:


Pay Information:
Range 27 ($4,444.39- $7,094.25) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule. New employees will begin on Step A ($4,444.39), Step B ($4,666.61) with 18 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience or up to Step C ($4,899.94) with 36 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience. For purposes of salary placement, 7.5 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of directly related coursework from a regularly accredited institution will be equivalent to one (1) year of job experience. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.
