Major Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Transfer Center Coordinator is to coordinate the colleges transfer function. The director would be responsible for many of the following activities and should have a keen sense of all the activities and programs in support of the transfer that take place throughout the campus.
  1. Directing the Transfer Center and its budget and the activities of the Transfer Center staff.
  2. Providing ongoing information and training to counselors and Transfer Center staff regarding new transfer options and policies, changing requirements, university selection criteria, etc. to ensure that accurate and up-to-date information is being conveyed to students.
  3. Providing transfer counseling that supplements the counseling that takes place within the Counseling Department. Meeting regularly with potential transfer students to discuss academic options and evaluate transcripts.
  4. Serving as the primary contact person for inquiries from community college administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the community concerning the colleges transfer programs and services.
  5. Serving as a liaison between the community college and baccalaureate-level universities regarding admission policies and transfer requirements.
  6. Working with campus faculty and administration to ensure that the transfer function is clearly identified as a primary mission of the college.
  7. Working with college administrators to coordinate the activities of the Transfer Center with other instructional and student services programs on campus and to encourage cooperative working relationships.
  8. Informing the colleges academic senate of critical transfer initiatives and policy changes and encouraging the participation of instructional faculty in the development, implementation, and evaluation of transfer efforts.
  9. Establishing and chairing the Transfer Center Advisory Committee developed to assist in supporting and strengthening transfer activities on campus.
  10. Working with the campus articulation officer to monitor and encourage the development of articulation agreements and campus participation in articulation efforts.
  11. Assist in planning and facilitating transfer coursework, application workshops, classroom presentations, transfer fairs, and Transfer Day/College Night programs.
  12. Handling complex transfer cases referred to the Transfer Center by counselors, administrators, or instructional faculty; the evaluation of independent and out-of-state transcripts for transfer to UC, CSU and advocating for students to educate and empower them in the admission appeal process.
  13. Regularly reviewing California Community College and university updates and redirecting these updates to counselors, Transfer Center staff, and appropriate administrators and instructional faculty.
  14. Developing a comprehensive Transfer Center webpage. Identifying and purchasing resources; books and electronic materials that assist students with their transfer research.
  15. Participating in campus-wide efforts to identify and remove barriers to the retention and transfer of all students, including low-income, students with disabilities, first-generation college students, and other disproportionately impacted populations
  16. Developing and implementing methods to evaluate the effectiveness of transfer activities.
  17. Collaborating with other California Community College campuses to obtain information and best practices to develop strong Transfer Center programs and transfer activities.
  18. Attending regional and statewide Transfer Center Directors/Coordinators meetings and transfer meetings and conferences sponsored by receiving colleges and universities.


Qualifications:
(a) Masters degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in the discipline of the faculty members assignment. (b) Masters degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in a discipline reasonably related to the faculty members assignment and possession of a bachelors degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in the discipline of the faculty members assignment.

Desired Qualifications:
Two years experience as a counselor.
One year of experience in a transfer center
Experience working with diverse student populations
Experience working at a community college

Licenses:


Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A - Class 6, Step C ($6,301.36 - $8,490.72) per month based on the current AFT - COLLEGE Faculty Monthly Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 and A2.2 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable.

The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer-paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 - Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011).
