General Summary: Provide accommodations and support for students with disabilities. Serve as lead manager for Assistive Technology Services within the department.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) in Rehabilitation Science, Education, Counseling or related field plus minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Preference given to degree or certificate in assistive technology or experience with assistive technology (Kurzweil, JAWS, Dragon). Prior experience working with students requiring special accommodations in a college setting. Experience in the delivery of outreach programs that serve various student populations. Ability to interpret appropriate accommodations based on documented needs of the individual student. Ability to read, understand and interpret a psychological or neuro-psychological report. Knowledge of the laws governing students with disabilities for post-secondary institutions. Ability to understand how learning can be affected by disabilities and provide appropriate accommodations. Ability to work with students of all abilities. Strong communication and leadership skills. Computer experience and knowledge.

Duties:

1. Assist students who utilize assistive technology in the classroom. Provide regular training and resources for students as well as one on one coaching. Ensure that all Supportive Services staff are familiar with and can utilize assistive technologies.

2. Organize training and resources for faculty, administration, staff, and community members with regards to the use of assistive technology (Kurzweil, JAWs, Dragon). Including training and tutorials for closed captioning, lecture recording and other best practices in universal design.

3. Serve as primary point of contact for ITS in regards to technology and establish policies and procedures for the utilization of technology. Be the primary point of contact for the ITS and Virtual Campus which may include consulting on issues related to ADA compliance for web, software and other services.

4. Serve as lead coordinator and administrator of the Supportive Services Client Management software systems. This includes overseeing system set-up, privileges, trainings and user experiences.

5. Provide leadership and oversight in managing the software utilized by Supportive Services and the college. This includes technology such as: Accommodate, Verbit, Panopto, Zoom, Kurzweil, as well as any emerging technologies. Manage services for both internal and external customers.
  1. Develop and implement emergency evacuation plans for students.

7. Provide intake services for new or returning students including the interview process, evaluation and determination of accommodations. Develop individual accommodation plans for students with disabilities.

8. Serve as resource and liaison for faculty to ensure students with disabilities are receiving appropriate academic accommodations.

9. Assist with Enrollment Management activities including registration campaigns, open house events and other initiatives to recruit and retain students.

10. Provide leadership in responding to FSAs and other alerts for students who are experiencing difficulty in the classroom.

11. Assist with Medical Withdrawal requests and coaching students on their options for completing coursework.

12. Perform other duties as required or as assigned.
