The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Administrative Assistant V in the Office of the Vice President of Student Services, located at San Diego College of Continuing Education. Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

The assistant to the Vice President is responsible for managing day-to-day administrative and clerical tasks; duties involve a wide variety of diverse, complex, and confidential administrative support, technical, and clerical tasks, requiring a substantial amount of tact, judgment, and initiative.
Incumbents are required to relieve the administrator of routine administrative duties and provide work direction and guidance to clerical personnel assigned to the department or working closely with the program.

A significant responsibility of the position is done in collaboration with the President's Office, Instructional Services, and Administrative Services. This position is also responsible for gathering data to complete reports, preparing agendas and maintaining meeting minutes as needed, and assisting with maintaining budget expenditures and budget monitoring. The Administrative Assistant V works closely with faculty, Classified Professionals, and the management team at San Diego College of Continuing Education and throughout SDCCD.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

  • Ability to perform highly accurate, detailed work and maintain organization while working under pressure to meet multiple deadlines and customer demands.
  • Advanced technological skills, including experience with a range of applications in Microsoft, cloud-based platforms, and proprietary software and systems.
  • Ability to critically think through complex systems and provide innovation and input into established and new processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain confidential, respectful, and effective working relationships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret, follow, and explain campus and district policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work confidently with discretion and independently with little direction.
  • Ability to gather data and prepare and reports and correspondence.


Pay Information:
Range 22 ($3,786.25- $6,043.71) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule. New employees will begin on Step A ($3,786.25), Step B ($3,975.56) with 18 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience or up to Step C ($4,147.34) with 36 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience. For purposes of salary placement, 7.5 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of directly related coursework from a regularly accredited institution will be equivalent to one (1) year of job experience. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents.
